Bal Vikas Convention

Two-day convention of Balvikas 'Alumni' and Group 3 students was kicked off at Kulwant Hall this morning.

• Four Balvikas alumni and AIP, Mr Srinivasan spoke on Saturday ( morning session). All dwelt upon the theme, ' Balvikas - Pathways to Excellence'. 

• Also on Sunday morning, we had few 'alumni' come and share their experiences. Speakers included a senior IAS officer, member of Nobel winning lab, corporate executives, et al.

Every talk was a proof of the immense impact Balvikas program had on them.

Balvikas is truly 'God's gift to humanity'. And we have a role to play, to get as many children the fortune of going through it. The model has evolved into a well-oiled process now and as such easy to implement the template. With couple of hours, every week, that is the minimum we can do for the future of children. Happy childhood and a matured outlook in the later years can be hugely beneficial.

It was a pleasant surprise to see some of the senior, dedicated members of Swami's students, working in Parthi, were Balvikas alumni. 

Great to know they are working on a Plan-2015

So too, to lead a good life, you must foster and water the virtues, which are the roots, so that the flowers of actions, words and thoughts may bloom in fragrance and yield the fruit of service (seva), and the sweet juice of joy (ananda). Planning for food, clothing and shelter is only promoting the well-being of the cart. Also plan for the horse, which is the mind. The mind has to use the food, the clothing, the shelter and other objects in the Universe for the high purpose of escaping from the bonds of the ego to the Universal.

Back Home... @ Prashanthi Nilayam

Greetings from Prashanthi Nilayam. On a much-awaited ‘break’! Though I am on a ‘break’, got tied up with too many things over the last 5+ months. Could not just sit back & take few deep breaths. Wanted to desperately make a trip of this type to PSN. Enjoying blissful moments in PSN, since Monday, 10^th Sept.

Weather has been surprisingly very good. The cab ride was very refreshing, with the entire landscape in the region clean & green, along the national highway. As we hit the last-mile, near PSN railway station, the driver commented, ‘Puttaparthy is now Bangalore & Bangalore is like Puttaparthy”!  He was referring to the weather, of course. Puttaparthy (PTP) is no longer hot & dry as we usually we associate with Rayalseema region of AP., but green & pleasant.

Nature is doing its best. We just need to be more responsible to environment

Sri Sathya Sai Center at Singapore

Got the opportunity to visit Sai Center @ Singapore, spend few 'ssilent' moments. 
Hopefully will get to attend bhajans next time, Swami-willing! 

As my cab reached the Center, looking at the structure, the cabbie said, "Oh this church?" 
I was in a reflective mood & hence did not correct him. Wanted to tell him, it was not a Church. But then, it was also a Church. It was also a temple, mosque and everything synonymous.

I wondered what is my 'Sarvadharma-quotient' ?!! 
We are the torch-bearers of the legacy of Swami's Sarva Dharma Principle.
Afterall, Swami said, 'Your life is My Message'.

In the Geetha, Krishna said to Arjuna, “I am the witness; through Me, this conglomeration of the five elements called Universe, all these moveable and immoveable objects, are formed. Whatever the name or form worshiped, I am the Recipient; for I am the Goal of all. I am the only One. There is no Other. I Myself become the Worshipped, through My many Names and Forms. Not only this, I am the Fruit of all actions, the Bestower of the Fruit, and the Prompter. To realise Me is indeed liberation. He is the Jivanmuktha (liberated even while alive) who attains that realisation. Arjuna, if one yearns to become a Jivanmuktha, one has to eradicate fully the attachment to the body.”

Save Water

Sairam to all

Greetings from Singapore ! I am here to learn, once again :) 

Though I had travelled up to Malaysia earlier, this was my first trip to S'pore. And truly, 'the world is mysterious for my intelligence to grow !' Truly Singapored !  

One of the things they do so well is to maintain environment. 

I feel our responsibility towards environment is as important a sadhana, like any other spiritual-activity. 

We have seen how Swami ensures no water/electricity/energy wasted at all. He would switch on the fan in the interview room after all have assembled. He would always switch off the fan before He steps out . He would not waste anything, though everything is in Him. 

All the more reason not to waste water... To love environment, to be thankful to the trees around us. 

If Swami's devotees across the globe became more conscious about environment, we can bring about a big change ! 

Let us sincerely love our environment & do all possible at our personal level to protect environment... 

Ritualistic sadhana

Very often our sadhana becomes a routine or a mere ritual. We find so many people around us do it, along with ourselves. The moment it becomes 'mechanical', perhaps the very purpose of Sadhana is defeated. 

The challenge is to have a high level of 'intent', every time we do any form of sadhana. 

Better still, every moment. 
In case of latter, we will be more tuned towards the Divine. 

So, the next time we set up the altar, light a lamp or incence, sit down to chant/pray/meditate and when we try to connect, a high level of intent, focus and love will help up connect better.

Spiritual practices must be done sincerely, with a full sense of responsibility. It must not be reduced to empty routine. Realize that to visualize the Lord as the resident in all and as responsible for everything is the hallmark of devotion.

One advice for lasting bliss

Swami has given so many simple, but very powerful messages. 

• Love All, Serve All
• Help Ever, Hurt Never
• Hands that serve...
• Power of Namasmaran
• Importance of veda-chanting
• 9 Point code
• etc....

But, One great message we should inculcate, every moment..... Bliss guaranteed.


I shall tell you just one thing, which is the essence of all noble scriptures. I want you to resolve to follow this, every single day - “Do not seek to find fault in others. Give up maligning and injuring others in thought, word and deed. Do not scandalize anyone; do not feel envy or malice. Be always sweet in temperament; use soft and sweet words. Fill your conversations with devotion and humility.” Live in Love, for love, with love. Then the Lord, who is Himself Divine Love personified, will grant you all that you need, without you asking for anything. He knows. He is the Mother who does not wait to hear the moan of the child to feed it. He anticipates every need and rushes to you with help that you must have in every occasion

Law of Karma - way out ?

We blame karma for lot of things. We feel 'victimised' in the present. But, there is way out of Karma-effect, at least partially: 

The Law of Karma is not an irreversible iron law. Dedication to the divine and purification of thoughts, words and deeds invite divine benediction. The effects of karma can be modified and its rigour, mitigated through grace. 

But then, the path is not easy.... With so much distraction. The choice is ours!

When vices hold sway over your heart, it becomes foul and sooty. The flames of desire, anger and miserliness (kaama, krodha andlobha) leave char within your heart. Do not despair or lose heart if vices trouble you. 

If at all we needed confirmation... God is everywhere, always ready to shower Grace. We just need to make the choice and be on it, with 'relentless discipline'. Not easy, not difficult, But the choice is definitely ours, to Live SSpiritually !

There is no place where God is not present. There is no being to whom He denies blessings. Grace manifests itself by quenching the flames within your heart and confers bliss which desire, anger and miserliness can never confer. God is immanent and eternal. Follow the path and obey the ideals laid down by the Lord with relentless discipline. Your mind will be purified and divine grace will be ref lected therein.

Where is God ?

While travelling to PSN, listened to the wonderful interview with Mr Isaac Tigrett on RadioSai.

Swami asked him once, 'Where is God ?"


Mr Tigrett replied, "in my heart"


Swami clarified, "it is like fish in water. Man is the fish. God is water. We are all in GOD"

Wow !

We just need to "connect"!!!

Devotees of Sathya Sai Baba will remember a kind, old lady dressed in white, collecting footwear from fellow devotees or sweeping the premises at Sundaram in Chennai or Prashanthi Nilayam in Puttaparthi. She was an active member of the Seva Dal, a service brigade. She never let her celebrity status come in the way of her desire to serve humanity.

Thrash Can

We live a life of comfort... 

This morning, I felt guilty of not switching off the geyzer. I was not being environmentally responsible :(

Then entered kitchen for my water-therapy ( still stuck at phase-1, just one glass of H20 !)

I looked at the thrash in the basket - no waste at all, surely. But, the packaging/plastic/etc to make our foodstuff remain hygeinic & tasty. And, all that goes in to the earth. I felt more guilty...

In our effort to live a comfortable life, we continue to pollute Earth, big time... !

I silently prayed for apology to Mother Earth... I promised to be a little more responsible, environmentally. 

We all need to make these small adjustments, quickly. We have no much time left to make these small shifts... 

It is our choice. Let us make a wise choice and 'stick to the agreement' with ourselves, with Divinity.
